Ricky's has provided incredible breakfast since 1962. It started as Ricky's Pancake House and was known for some of the best buttermilk pancakes in the area. When the 1980s came along, the restaurant added a full lunch and dinner to the menu. This made them the Ricky's All Day Grill and the restaurant gained even more popularity.

The restaurant today serves many breakfast items all day long, along with plenty of other items. They have about 70 locations throughout Canada and plan to develop many other locations very soon.

Mother’s Day Market

Held every year around Mother's Day, this event provides more than 80 artisans and vendors. There are all types of items found throughout the market and it's a fundraiser to support the Okotoks Food Bank, as well. Admission is usually only about $2 and the market is held at Foothills Centennial Centre.

BuskerFest

An event full of musicians, street performers, imported products and more, the BuskerFest is one of the largest free events of the year in Okotoks. This event features all kinds of live entertainment

Have you tried Bistro 1882 yet? This Okotoks restaurant is a favourite among locals for its casual atmosphere, excellent cuisine and unique location. It’s located inside the original Sheep Creek Post Office of Okotoks and now serves lunch and dinner. The original Sheep Creek Post Office was built in 1882 located east of town near McMillan’s stopping place.

It was later moved in 1887 to the present day location at the original MacLeod Trail across from the train station. It served as the post office until around 1942 but it was sitting empty for years until the renovation took place to make it into a restaurant. Found in the Dewinton area, the Carnmoney Golf Club is a fine place to play, dine or hold your next event. It's one of the top choices in the Okotoks area and provides plenty of beautiful scenery. The course was created in 1992 and has provided plenty of joy for golfers of all ages and skill levels ever since.

The course provides plenty of adventure with a layout perfect for all skill levels. There are four sets of tees ranging from 5,165 yards to 6,836 yards. Once the cornerstone of social life in the area and still one of the most popular spots, The Royal Duke has a rich 83-year-old history. This was the place to meet friends in the heart of Okotoks and the original structure was a three-storey brick buildings.

The Royal Duke Hotel Eatery & Pub was actually born in 2011 and was made over to be much like The Royal Duke. The Chinook Honey Company is a family-owned and operated store just south of Okotoks serving the area since 2004. The doors opened for retail honey sales in June 2004 just south of Okotoks near Calgary. This small shop is located at Box 12, Site 14, RR1 in the Okotoks area and is open all week except Tuesdays for the community to enjoy.

As of 2007 they are offering mead, a honey wine, in their product line and because of this addition, the Chinook Honey Company and the Chinook Arch Meadery has spread like wild. If you’re looking for a store selling natural, pure honey and even fine mead, these speciality items are found at the Chinook Honey Company.

Opened in 1994 River's Edge Golf Club is one of the top choices in the Okotoks area. It was designed by former Canadian Tour Professional Ed Engelhardt and his son. The course started as just a nine hole course with the South Nine opening in 1994 and the North Nine opening ten years later.

River's Edge Golf Club was selected as the host club for the 2010 Alberta Ladies Amateur Championship and was renovated in many ways for the event. Today, it's a very challenging course measuring about 7,000 yards from the championship tees and about 5,200 yards from the front tee box.

The course includes Death Valley, which is holes 13, 14 and 15. They run along the river and have very narrow fairways with 50-foot Poplar trees surrounding them. You will also get

The Okotoks Bisons are Okotok’s favourite hockey team and are ranked as a Junior B Ice Hockey team. They are part of the South Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League with home games played at the Murray Arena. They were founded back in 1985-86 and their general manager is Jay McFarlane alongside head coach Mike Hannigan.

They rock the blue, red and white team colours. While they were once called the Okotoks 85ers and original played in the Southern Alberta Junior Hockey League, today they are associated with the South Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League.
